LeBron James, Kobe Bryant And Kevin Durant Accept An Extraterrestrial Mission To Houston

Nike has recently decided to celebrate the upcoming All-Star weekend in Houston with three new releases for the game’s brightest stars: LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant. Nike took the design and marketing one step further, creating an entire backstory having to do with the radio control center in Texas, named “Houston.”
The backstory for the sneakers is no doubt imaginative, describing the creation of Bron as “an indestructible force originating from fictional Nike Space Program (NSP) planet NSP-LJ6, LeBron James’ dominance was born from the volcanic surface in the planet’s mantle.”
The same kind of flowery language is used to describe the creation of the other pairs for Durant and Kobe, referring to Durant’s skill as on the court “simultaneously solid, liquid, and gas – properties that make his game adaptable to any situation.” For Kobe, Nike believes Kobe is from a planet where “the Ice Mamba circles the volatile surface as guardian of the five rings. The wise veteran is known to strike with moves that leave his opponents frozen.”
The design of the shoes rivals the creative wording used to describe the players. Bron’s sneakers come with “full-length visible Nike Zoom cushioning, dynamic Flywire technology and Hyperfuse construction.” Kobe’s shoes are “Nike+ Basketball enabled for the first time and this shoe also features Nike Zoom in the midsole insert. Nike Engineered Mesh upper and tactile traction complete the shoe,” while Durant’s shoes feature “the combination of Nike Zoom (forefoot) and Nike Air (heel) cushioning along with Hyperfuse upper and dynamic heel support.”
Granted, I haven’t the slightest clue what any of this means, but it all sounds incredibly advanced and serves well to make the sneakers sound as if you’ll feel “otherworldly” while wearing them. For more details and designs, you can check them out here as they go on sale at nearest sneaker store today.

I would never wear any of these shoes … but they do have a sort of Space Jam feel to them.
May be a small discrepancy. On the Nike site, they said the shoes would be available Jan 23rd…I saw somewhere else they weren’t going to release til Feb 15th. Slight chance I might have confused the release date with when the athletes are actually going to wear the shoes and when they release, but I got the Jan date from the Nike site…so if you can’t find these shoes, my bad.
