Defensive Backs Take Notice: Only A Prime Can Stop Megatron

For those of you who watch the Transformers, this title means something real to you. You know the story of the Autobots and the Decepticons and their leaders Optimus Prime and Megatron. Optimus Prime is the leader of the autobots, a faction of transforming robots from the planet Cybertron. The autobots are constantly waging war against a rival faction of transforming robots called Decepticons. He is depicted as a brave, powerful, wise and compassionate leader who puts his talent to use improving the universe around him. Optimus is portrayed as having a strong sense of justice and righteousness and has dedicated himself to the protection of all life, particularly the inhabitants of Earth.

Then we have Megatron. He is the primary antagonist and leader of the "evil" faction (primarily the Decepticons) in most of the various Transformers universes.

Enter Calvin Johnson…nicknamed Megatron because of his combination of size, speed, hands, strength, and leaping ability. Johnson possesses rare body control and hand-eye coordination for a man of his size. He makes the simple plays look boring and the spectacular plays look simple. It almost seems as if he is jogging while playing but he is running past most defenders with his 4.3 forty yard dash speed at 240 pounds.

Followers of Transformers know that there are only a few “Primes” out there and only a “Prime” has the ability to defeat Megatron. The last know Prime to surface around the NFL was Deion Sanders. Sanders a.k.a. “Prime Time” was the last great Prime we know of. Sanders took the souls of several NFL wide receivers and buried them and their teams on his way to the NFL Hall of Fame.

The question remains, are there any “Prime’s” left in the NFL? We could argue that there may be a couple but I am not so sure about them. Nnamdi Asomugha was once considered a Prime but he was defeated all last season by an unknown Decepticon named Victor Cruz. Cruz pulled a star scream on Nnamdi and stole his soul. Once the soul was captured, it never looked like it had the charge of a Prime.

Another Candidate for “Prime” contention is Darrelle Revis. Revis has Prime like ability and has stole the soul of many Decepticons along the way. He took the soul of Chad Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Terrell Owens, Randy Moss, and Andre Johnson in consecutive weeks. In fact the only Decepticon to even show any fight against Revis was Moss in a rematch a year later, but Revis still thinks he owns the man.

So maybe Revis is the Prime that can unseat Megatron. We shall see as Megatron continues to take the world by storm. Maybe Cris Carter will give the man the props he deserves this year as a top 5 receiver in the league since he left him off his list last season. I didn't make that mistake as I got ridiculed early in the year last year for having him at number one  already.

Like I told people before: “Never have we seen a man built like Shannon Sharpe, run like Randy Moss, explode like Terrell Owens, with hands like Cris Carter, and runs routes like Jerry Rice.” That my friends is what we call the total package.
