Late on Wednesday an announcement was released stating that Quinton "Rampage" Jackson would take place in his last UFC event of his career. In UFC on FOX 6 in Chicago, Rampage's Last Stand will commence:
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and fast-rising contender Glover Teixeira have agreed to fight Jan. 26 in Chicago, the promotion announced Wednesday night on its website. Jackson (32-10) and Teixeira (19-2) were originally scheduled to meet on Oct. 13 at UFC 153 in Rio de Janeiro, but an injury forced Jackson to withdraw from the bout. The fight with Teixeira will be Jackson's last under his current UFC contract. Jackson has vowed not to re-sign with the promotion. The bout is part of UFC on Fox 6, which will be held at United Center.
Jackson's relationship with UFC has been strained for a while. He and Teixeira exchanged harsh words last month. Jackson says he does not hold animosity toward anyone but promises to punish Teixeira during their January fight. "Outside the cage, I hate no one. Life is too short for that," Jackson said Wednesday on Twitter. "Inside the cage, my job is to destroy. Glover is done on Jan. 26 in Chicago."
No one would ever try and make the case that Rampage is one of the best UFC fighters of all time, although he has beaten many of the all-time greats at light heavyweight — ask Chuck Liddell. Yet, from always being a great soundbite, to pursuing an acting career as the next evolution of B.A. Baracus , to having beef with Rashad Evans, a.k.a., "IT'S GON BE SOME BLACK ON BLACK CRIME!" (throws the mic down), and flirting with woman any chance he could, you always knew that Rampage was out here to have fun, entertain us, and try to knock someone's head off any chance he got.
Plus, this gives me one more reason to show you one of the greatest interviews of all time. "YOU A BETA? I'M AN ALPHA! ARE YOU THE ALPHA OF YOUR LITTER? I'M THE ALPHA OF MY LITTER!"
All hail Quinton Ramone "Rampage" Jackson. Best of luck to you in Chicago on January 26th.
