When I first moved to the West Coast, one of the first people I got to know was the homie Rasheed.
Now, I've known Rasheed for a minute from afar, because social media has a way of bringing the people together. Plus, he's the lead dog over at Warriors World, an ESPN Truehoop blog for the Golden State Warriors that I read semi-regularly. When I moved out here, we linked up and immediately clicked, and I'm fortunate enough to know a mover and shaker in the Bay. Someone who seems to know everybody, and someone who's always got something good for the people brewing on the back burner.
This 3-on-3 tournament he told me about, was one of those good things on the backburner.
The Sports Fan Journal has been asked by Warriors World to participate in their 1st Annual 3-on-3 Charity Basketball Tournament at Contra Costa College. We're helping raise funds for Project Level, a San Francisco non-profit who's mission is to educate, inspire, and motivate the at-risk and underserved youth in various communities by experiencing many aspects of the arts, media, marketing and public relations. The youth have the opportunity to be exposed to a variety of different learnings including: studio recording, graphic design, photography, video production, money management, and journalism.
It's the type of thing we here at TSFJ can get behind, so we're down for the cause. So much so, that I decided to shoot a video to tell you all about it. Check out my stupid dope basketball moves, as I ask the people to support our cause. We need $200 to meet our goal, and we need your hopes and prayers to win this tournament. We're looking to do both without injuring ourselves in the process. Check the video for more, and make that donation asaptually! Thanks!
