2018 Heisman Hopefuls Takeover the New York Stock Exchange

The trio of quarterbacks that comprise this year’s Heisman hopefuls – Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa, Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray and Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins – took over the New York Stock Exchange Friday as they met with the media to discuss their Heisman experience. The players were then escorted to the floor where they were joined by a handful of former Heisman winners in ringing the closing bell.

This year’s race, which once belonged solely to Tagovailoa, has become one of the closest we’ve seen in a while, with Kyler Murray coming in hot to close out the Sooners' season. After Murray busted loose on the Big 12's biggest stage and Tua succumbed to injury in the SEC's final affair, college football fans now await with baited breath to see which QB's star will shine brightest.

Tagovailoa and Murray split four college football awards Thursday – Tua received the Maxwell Award for player of the year while Murray was named the nation’s top quarterback with the Davey O’Brian Award. Tagovailoa also won the Walter Camp Award for best player while Murray took home the Associated Press’ Player of the Year. According to ESPN.com, this is the sixth time in the past 15 seasons that different quarterbacks took home the Maxwell and Davey O'Brien awards, and in four of the previous five times, the Heisman went to the O'Brien winner. And only five Heisman winners have failed to win AP Player of the Year since the award started in 1998. Also, fun fact - the past four Maxwell winners and past five Walter Camp winners have all gone on to win the Heisman.

So where does that leave soft-spoken Dwyane Haskins? As a long shot to take home the Stiff-Arm trophy tomorrow night – current odds have him at +2500 to Tagovailoa’s +120 and Murray’s -160. If only Haskins and the Ohio State Buckeyes hadn't laid an egg versus Purdue. (Oh well, enjoy being selected in the first round the NFL Draft!)
