Perhaps music fans have caught KAYTRANADA's many music remixes of songs made famous by stars like Missy Elliott, Pharrell, and Teedra Moses. Or maybe music lovers have jammed out to the producer's DJ set at a festival. One thing is for certain, KAYTRANADA can't be pigeonholed into just one genre and it's evident on his sophomore album BUBBA. One of the album's standout tracks is the Mick Jenkins-assisted song "Gray Area."
The long-awaited BUBBA album comes three years after KAYTRANADA released his debut LP 99.9%. In proper KAYTRANADA fashion, the producer brings a number of artists featured for the ride. However, on "Gray Area," this isn't the first time he's teamed up with the Mick Jenkins. He previously produced a few records for the Chicago-bred rapper including "What Am I To Do" and "Understood." KAYTRANADA's lush production on "Gray Area" blends genres of R&B, old-school, and electronica to help showcase Jenkins' melodic MC skills in a more upbeat tempo. KAYTRANADA is known for releasing dance-heavy tracks and this song gives Jenkins' fans a vibe they might not be used to from the MC.
