As the world continues to deal with a pandemic, there is one thing that seems to keep people at ease — music. Whether artists are using this downtime to perform on Instagram Live or drop a new single, or fans are participating in the latest TikTok dance challenge, with more people being ordered to work from home and self quarantine, music continues to keep people connected. One artist taking full advantage of the moment is PARTYNEXTDOOR. His new album PARTYMOBILE offers smooth cuts in true PARTY fashion including the standout, "TURN UP."

By the title alone, it may seem like PARTYNEXTDOOR is brewing a weekend banger, but it's quite the opposite. On "TURN UP," PARTYNEXTDOOR gives fans his smooth, hazy R&B sound with production from Murda Beatz and Cardiak. PARTYNEXTDOOR uses "TURN UP" to emphasize how he flew his girl out and wants her to sip the finest libations so they can have a good time. A song that initially may sound like a club scene actually sees PARTYNEXTDOOR vying to have his own private party. Any Damian Marley fan will also be pleased with how the singer uses a "Welcome to Jamrock" reference on the hook:

"Out in the streets, they call it murder / Baby, have a drink with me, don't order a virgin / I'm not controlla in it, I'm tryna see you turn up / I wanna see you turn up"

Although PARTYNEXTDOOR released a few singles before dropping the album, it will be interesting to see which songs he'll continue to drop as singles, and "TURN UP" could be a contender.

Once this pandemic is over, more people are sure to take advantage of any turn up invite. If the upcoming days and weeks call for you to continue social distancing and you need some new R&B to listen to, put PARTYNEXTDOOR's "TURN UP" in the rotation and check out this week's pertinent reading material:
