Producer and DJ Mustard is known for making hit songs for other artists, well this time around, he's back with his third studio album, Perfect Ten. While there's no doubt his albums beam with fiery collaborations of star-studded features, this album's title track shines a little differently with a verse from the late Nipsey Hussle.
"Perfect Ten" is the second posthumous track from Nipsey following up the "Higher" collaboration alongside DJ Khaled and John Legend. This isn't the first time Nipsey has collaborated with Mustard, however, this song gives a listener a different type of emotion since Nipsey's passing. Not only does Mustard allow Nipsey to spit bars, but he adds in a motivational interview the rapper conducted with Big Boy back in 2018. While the radio clip has Nipsey discussing how he uses hip-hop to advance his people, there's one lyric that sticks out when he says, "Ain't no guarantees but you know that / Ni***s die everyday, can't control that." The track is not only an insight into NIpsey's views, but also the perfect reminder that the marathon continues on.
Summer is officially here, and with it comes playing outdoor ping pong, day drinking and time to make adjustments midway through the year.
