In The Rotation: "Movin' On" by India Shawn ft. Anderson .Paak

As August is coming to a close, it seems like more R&B artists are choosing to end the summer on a high note. Or perhaps they wanted to make sure they released something special just in time for the Grammy's eligibility period, ending on Aug. 31 (a month earlier than usual). Whatever the case is, it's safe to say the R&B world is in a good space. This week of new music is filled with R&B veterans showcasing their longevity and newcomers ready to make their mark. One artist representing for the newer generation is India Shawn. The rising singer-songwriter taps Anderson .Paak on her latest single, "Movin' On."

Produced by hitmaker Dernst "D'Mile" Emile II, known for his work with artists like Janet Jackson, H.E.R., Lucky Daye, Justin Bieber, and Usher, "Movin' On" gives a throwback vibe as India Shawn and .Paak try to find solace after a relationship goes sour. A breakup can leave even the strongest person going through different emotions, but they have to continue to push through. Shawn stresses that in the first verse:

"All in my bed / Sometimes it's like that / Get yourself out of them blues / You gotta give it to you / Ain't nobody got you like you / Let it show / We gon' shine like gods today"

Shawn realizes she's been in a slump since the relationship didn't work out and she's tired of feeling so down. In the second verse is where fans see .Paak counteract with regret and realizing what he lost. At the end of the day, they both understand that moving on isn't always a bad thing.

With the song production pulling inspiration from '70s soul, along with the tones of Shawn and .Paak blending perfectly together, "Movin' On" is sure to be a fan favorite for R&B lovers. As Shawn has previously worked with stars such as 6LACK and Ye Ali, the singer can add this .Paak-assisted single to her rolodex of hot collaborations.

If the weekend calls for some feel-good tunes, put India Shawn's "Movin' On" in the rotation.
