NBA Round Up | The Season So Far

We’re around midway through the regular season of the NBA, and there have been plenty of talking points already. The majority of franchises have now played at least 42 regular season games, and there’s plenty of action on the court still to come! Here’s how the Conferences look at this stage of the season!

Eastern Conference

In the east, the Chicago Bulls are leading the rest of their conference rivals at the top. With a 117-104 win against the Cavs in their latest matchup, the Bulls currently have the best percentage of the east, at .651. Not far behind the Bulls include the Miami Heat & Brooklyn Nets, who would overtake the leaders with a win in their next matchup.

The Milwaukee Bucks are still in contention, with an impressive victory in their latest game, beating the Memphis Grizzlies 126-114 – the team ranked No.1 in the latest NBA power rankings. The Bucks are currently sitting in 4th in the Eastern Conference, marginally ahead of the Philadelphia 76ers & the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Both the Charlotte Hornets & Washington Wizards still have a winning percentage, and are currently holding the middle of the conference. For the Boston Celtics & the Toronto Rapids, it’s been a consistent season – in that they are both currently .500 so far in the season.

At the bottom end of the conference, the Orlando Magic are struggling this season, and are the only franchise in the NBA to not have double-digit wins so far. With only eight wins in the regular season, it’s safe to say that it’s a season to forget for Magic.

Western Conference

Meanwhile, the Western Conference has a strong franchise leading the way in the conference – the Phoenix Suns. With a record of 34-9 (a win percentage of .791), the Suns are looking like the team to beat in the league. Phoenix are also the only team in the league to have less than double-digit losses – an extremely strong position to be in at this stage of the season.

Closest to the leaders are the Golden State Warriors, who also have a win % bigger than .700 (currently at .727) and will want to close the gap on the leaders. No.3 in the NBA power rankings, the Warriors aren’t too far behind the Suns. Neither are the Memphis Grizzlies, who are working their way up the conference despite losing their last matchup.

The Utah Jazz, Dallas Mavericks & Denver Nuggets all have a positive win percentage and are all looking at making a move for the playoffs, come the end of the season. Behind them in the lower half of the Western Conference, the Minnesota Timberwolves & LA Lakers both lost their latest matchup on the court, and currently have a negative record – both 22-23.

Down at the bottom of the west, the Houston Rockets & Oklahoma City Thunder are struggling to gain any momentum in the regular season, and both only have 14 wins so far on the year. The New Orleans Pelicans have lost their last two, and are still at the bottom end of the conference, with a 16-28 record.
