Adrian Marcel Puts A Special Mark On R&B With Debut Album ‘GMFU’

In a world where hip-hop and pop music dominate the charts, a number of artists continuously prove there’s always room for R&B. That’s where soulful crooner Adrian Marcel comes into play. The Oakland-bred vocalist first came onto the scene in 2013 with his 7 Days of Weak mixtape and earned gold status with his smash hit “2AM” featuring Sage The Gemini. Since then, he went on to drop follow-up projects such as Weak After Next and has worked with a number of artists including Snoop Dogg, Wale, Kelly Rowland and E-40.

And did I mention he’s also the protégé to legendary singer-songwriter Raphael Saadiq? A co-sign from one of the original members of Tony! Toni! Tone! should give any music lover the urge to press play on his music. The smooth singer has a number of music veterans supporting his artistry, along with a die-hard fan base that wants to see him win.

When you listen to Marcel’s music, different emotions can take over your mind: the ups and downs of being in love, thinking about an ex-lover, understanding a relationship status, or simply turning up with your crew. Whatever your mood is, his new album GMFU embodies each element, making it the perfect project to vibe to during the late hours. He keeps his features list a bit shorter compared to his previous projects, adding only one collaboration with Lil Boosie and Too Short.

There is no doubt the singer has been inspired by the likes of Usher and Jodeci with his smooth ballads and a dash of party anthems. Although his commercial singles aim for a pop sound on the radio airwaves, Marcel is determined to stay true to his craft with smooth R&B jams. Surprisingly, many music lovers still claim that R&B is dead; however, Adrian Marcel is here to prove them all wrong.
