Sitting in the living room overlooking the new College Football Playoff uniforms Nike released while the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is running in the background, I begin to notice the striking similarities. The characteristics of the athletic and underwear styles begin to reveal themselves to me, and I can't help but notice...
1. They both have wings.
No Oregon Ducks uniform or Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Outfit is complete without wings.
2. The use of solid colors is crucial in making things pop.
In comparison to the other uniforms, the Oregon Ducks' uniforms stand out from the rest because of the solid green consistency of the uniform compared to the off-red the other three teams sport. The Victoria's Secret models all wear black for the entrance of the finale.
3. Small details matter.
The gloves Nike created for each team have a one-piece knit back to eliminate seams, reduce hot spots and reduce distraction. Each little bead, feather and stitch for the lingerie ensemble is necessary to complete the entire look.
4. The material used is special.
The Nike Pro Combat Hypercool baselayer is made with a compression fit and Dri-Fit fabric to provide support and keep the athletes cool, dry and comfortable during performance. The material used to create each piece the Victoria's Secret models wear is specifically chosen for each distinctive design.
5. There is special placement for emphasis.
The entire chest graphic on the Oregon Ducks' baselayer has a 27-degree tilt, symbolizing the 27 bowl-game appearances. For each pair of wings that the models wear, it takes crafters about a year to create because of the attention to detail necessary for perfection.
6. Each design has a special quality.
The baselayer for each team has a special quality to it. The Ducks have a fragmented diamond pattern with graphic angles representing the team's 27 bowl appearances. The Crimson Tide have a newly designed elephant skin pattern composed of mantras, quotes and team inspirations. The Seminoles have a black Seminole-inspired pattern containing the Tribe's symbols for Arrow, Man on Horse and Fire, with the helmet spears crossing like the crossed bars of the state flag. The Buckeyes' baselayer has one of the last "chalkboard" sessions from former head football coach Woody Hayes printed on top. Each Victoria's Secret outfit has its own inspiration and features details that are equivalent to none.
7. The shoes are incredible.
Each pair of Nike Vapor Untouchable Cleats has sustainable Flyknit upper material, giving the athlete mobility of a low-cut cleat with the support of a mid-cut version. Not to mention that each pair has the equivalent of five recycled plastic bottles knitted into the cleat as a yarn material. Every outfit isn't complete without the right pair of shoes, and the Victoria's Secret models reveal the magnificent heels made to match each distinctive outfit.
8. Each uniform and fashion piece is form-fitting.
The Nike uniforms for each team are form-fitting to a football player's body and gear, allowing for natural mobility and peak performance. The lingerie each model wears is form-fitting to her own curves and features.
9. There is a special edition made that stands out from the entire collection.
Nike did it with the Ducks' uniform, putting wings on the uniform and baselayer, using only green for the entire outfit, having "Fighting Ducks" embellishing the sides of the pants and other small details. The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show designers decided to have two Fantasy Bras this year for angels Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio.
10. Nike and Victoria's Secret come out with new uniforms and lingerie ensembles every year, but we still appreciate seeing what the designers come out with each time.
