Starting Lineups: The New York Knicks Are Officially Outside Their Minds

The New York Knicks are 3-6 on the season, and things aren't looking good for the boys who play in the world's greatest arena, Madison Square Garden - just check out the betting sites if you need more proof! Here are some words from their fearless leader, Carmelo Anthony on their current struggles:

We’re not getting it done from an effort standpoint. It’s like we’re not even trying right now. We can’t worry about the boos. We got to play harder. We’re not playing worth a [expletive] right now.

I can’t believe it. I don’t even know what to say. I’m in awe. I don’t know how to explain it. I don’t know If there is an explanation. It’s surprising. To come into the season with a mindset of being better than we were last year and to be where we’re at right now. I know it’s 3-6, but we got to turn this around quickly. It’s a nasty feeling within the team.

I know it’s early in the season, but at the rate this is going, we’re going to be in too deep a hole to dig out.

I've heard my Uncle refer to a few things that weren't deemed 'worth a shit' in my life, and do you know what my Uncle would end up doing with those things? He'd get rid of them. The Knicks are a literal clusterfuck. They are the only team in NBA history to have four frontcourt players who are all making $10+ million a year, they have a cubbard bereft of talent, and they are a unit who's chemistry experiment was deemed mildly successful last year is now begging to erupt and combust outside of their beakers. So the news out of the Big Apple is that they're now extremely desperate to try and get rid of players, and acquire some new parts...

There are also reports of the Knicks talking to the Sacramento Kings about a deal for Shumpert. Coincidentally, Kings forward Jason Thompson is represented by Leon Rose, the agent for Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith and Chris Smith. The Knicks’ primary target is Rondo, Boston’s All-Star point guard who is recovering from knee surgery. The Knicks have been trying to trade Shumpert, Raymond Felton and Stoudemire in a complicated deal for Rondo but the Celtics haven’t shown much interest.

Sources did say the Celtics would be willing to take on Stoudemire’s contract if they could unload some of their longer deals, namely those of (Gerald) Wallace and Courtney Lee. The Knicks may be reluctant to take Wallace back because they’re hesitant to take on salary beyond the 2014-15 season.

The Knicks were once a proud organization that many of us admired. Even if you hated the team, you knew that the legacy and the respect that's given to New York's team carries a lot of weight. However, this team lacks leadership from the top down. From an owner who'd rather play in his crappy band, to an owner who may or may not have eyebrows, to the best player who may forever be doomed as just being "a guy who can score a lot of points" and nothing more.

The New York Knicks aren't getting Rajon Rondo. The Boston Celtics aren't that stupid. The New York Knicks might trade Iman Shumpert (and his knee which might've been secretly operated on) to the Denver Nuggets for Kenneth Faried, which will be patently stupid unless there's a roster overhaul plan in place. (Which there isn't) The New York Knicks look like a group of guys who just met at the YMCA 5 minutes ago, decided to run fives and play ball. That's great for the YMCA, but that's ridiculously absurd in the NBA. Biggie wouldn't approve of these Knicks.

The New York Knicks are officially outside of their minds, and I can't take them seriously anymore. Here is your pertinent reading material to get your week started, happy Monday.
