European Soccer | UEFA Champions League & Europa League Finals

In Europe, the majority of the top leagues have now finished their domestic seasons. However, there’s still two extremely important games left for four teams – two games not to be missed.

The UEFA Champions league and UEFA Europa League will come to its conclusion this week, with both finals happening this week. First up, the Europa League final in Gdansk, Poland takes place on Wednesday night, three days before the Champions League final in Porto, Portugal.

Three teams from the English Premier League have one final fixture, with all three looking to get their hands on a European trophy. Meanwhile, Villarreal will be looking to carry the flag for Spain on Wednesday night.

An All-English Champions League Final

One of the biggest games in world football, the Champions League final takes place on Saturday, with a kick-off time of 3pm ET. Premier League champions Manchester City will take on Chelsea, who automatically qualified for next season’s top European competition following an exciting final day.

However, despite both will already be featuring next season, there is no way that either side will want to lose this one. The match has been recently relocated, with the initial plan for the final to take place in Istanbul scrapped due to travel restrictions involving the global pandemic.

Now, both English sides will be heading to the Estadio do Dragao, home to FC Porto in Portugal. Manchester City will be looking to cap off their successful season with a chance to complete a treble – after winning the Premier League and Carabao Cup earlier this season. On the other hand, Chelsea will be wanting to receive some sort of silverware and have one final chance to do so.

Our Prediction

It’s worth pointing out that the two teams involved in the European final have met three times this season – twice in the league and once in the semi-final of the FA Cup. Chelsea have won two of the three, and will definitely want to use that to their advantage on Saturday.

However, with City’s dominant performance this season, our soccer experts are tipping Manchester City to be victorious and be crowned European champions. Check out BetMGM for the latest soccer betting odds.

Manchester United vs Villarreal – Battle for the Europa League Crown

On Wednesday afternoon (3pm ET), Man United will go toe-to-toe with Spanish side Villarreal in what will be an exciting final. In Gdansk, both teams will be looking to end their season on a high, and have the perfect opportunity to do so.

Manchester United finished second in the Premier League as their cross-town rivals won comfortably, but United were the best of the rest. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has yet to win a trophy as manager of the Red Devils, but that could about to be changed on Wednesday.

Villarreal have had a disappointing season in La Liga in comparison to their expectations, finishing 7th – one spot outside of the European qualification places. Now, the team only has one opportunity to be involved in Europe next year – winning the Europa League will ensure a Champions League spot next year.
