Novak Djokovic has reached the final of the Australian Open in a straight-sets win against unseeded Aslan Karatsev.Â
 With fans in attendance having to leave during matches, and a quarantine protocol, it’s safe to say that the Australian Open has been an unusual competition.Â
However, the tournament has still provided fans and spectators across the world with some fantastic tennis, with many different talking points throughout.Â
Nothing has stopped Djokovic doing the rounds, and showing everyone why he is world number 1. The Serbian cruised to the Australian Open final with a 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 semi-final win.
 Djokovic’s third-round fall
There was a little doubt about Djokovic’s Grand Slam following an injury in the third round of the tournament. In an intense five-set match, the Serbian believed he tore a muscle after an awkward slip.
Before the injury, it was business as usual for the Serbian, who took a two set lead. However, with the injury, Djokovic struggled after the fall, and as a result lost the two following sets.
The Serbian international managed to overcome his opponent in the decider, and claimed the final set to progress into the fourth round.
From here, it was business as usual as Djokovic seemed to recover quickly in time to be back to his best for the next round.
With a win against Milos Raonic, and a quarter-final victory against the number 6 seed Alexander Zverev, Djokovic has successfully made his way through the tournament in an attempt to win his 18th Grand Slam singles title.
 Who will Djokovic face?
Djokovic will face number 4 seed Daniil Medvedev in the final of the 2021 Australian Open. The Russian earned a 6-4, 6-4, 7-5 win in his semi-final matchup against Stefanos Tsitsipas.Â
Despite the semi-final loss, Tsitsipas earned an impressive win over Rafael Nadal in the quarter-final round of the competition, so won’t be too disheartened and will look to build on the progress.Â
The men’s singles final will take place on Sunday February 21, and is shaping up to be a very entertaining contest.
 Women’s Singles
Meanwhile, Serena Williams crashed out in her semi-final match, in a straight-sets loss against 3rd seed Naomi Osaka.
Osaka put on an impressive performance in her 6-3, 6-4 win over Williams, and will now face another American in the final.
Jennifer Brady, ranked number 22 in the world, has made the first final of her Grand Slam career, after a win against Karolina Muchova in the semi-final round.
