Whether fans got familiar with Sylvan LaCue while dropping music under his former moniker QuESt, caught him on tour with artists like Logic, or found solace after listening to his previous album Apologies in Advance, the rising rapper returns with the first installment of his next trilogy album, Young Sylvan.
Typically in today's music industry, artists are prone to constantly feeding fans with new music, however, other artists believe quality of their art outweighs quantity. LaCue released his last studio album Apologies in Advance back in 2018, and naturally since then, some of his fans wondered when he would drop something new. Well the wait is now over and LaCue is ready to reintroduce himself.
"Young Sylvan Back" is the perfect intro track as the upbeat production draws listeners in from the start. If fans are looking for the soulful and lowkey 808 type of beats from his last album, they are going to be in for a ride with something new on this one. LaCue has no problem experimenting with different sounds as he showcases a smooth rap cadence with a strong prowess in storytelling. He has something to prove, so let him tell it in the hook, as he says:
"Young Sylvan back and I'm done with the antics / Anytime I reach I want n****s to get frantic / Nice guys don't finish last we lay low then plan s**t"
Before ending the hook with:
"I used to pray the world would understand me / But f**k understanding it is what it can be"
LaCue wants the music to speak for itself and it's evident as the EP brings a raw and confident presence to his flow. If the weekend calls for some new hip-hop to listen to, then put Sylvan LaCue's "Young Sylvan Back" in the rotation.
